DIP Policy - Minimum Standards

Agency Overview

The Agency Mission should provide a brief introduction of the role and functions of your agency and explain how digital technology underpins service delivery and outcomes.
Define your key digital services and outcomes including services delivered to other agencies.
Define how your digital services and outcomes contribute to the Data and Digital Government Strategy (the Strategy).

Current State

Provide a list of important existing systems that your agency utilises or provides. This includes the purpose of the system, it’s criticality to core business functions, dependencies, expected end-of-life and planned upgrades or replacements.

Digital Outlook

Draft a vision statement defining key commitments, plans and ambitions across the short, medium and long-term strategic view. Your agency may choose to compose a vision statement that encompasses the entire digital horizon, or you may want to address each strategic view individually.

Planning

Design a Digital Roadmap. The Digital Roadmap visualises key initiatives, activities and upgrades across the digital horizon and how they align with business goals or the Strategy.
Accompanying the Digital Roadmap, the New Systems and Major Upgrades section should outline critical new systems or major upgrades.

Enablers

Define the key Enablers that underpin the delivery of your DIP. Key enablers include Workforce, External Assets and Dependencies, Key Vendors and Policies and Frameworks.

Risks

Define Operational and Technology Risks that may disrupt the delivery of your DIP. Key risks may include funding, workforce, schedule, dependencies and technology.

When to apply this criterion

Apply Criterion 2 during the Discovery phase to validate initial assumptions made in Criterion 1 (‘Have a clear intent’). Test and validate the service with users as knowledge of the problem grows.

User needs aren’t static. Revisit this criterion across the Service design and delivery process to provide reliable, accessible services to users, when they need them.

Who can attend? The Showcase is open to anyone working in federal, state and territory government, or in the Australian AI industry. With that in mind, please register for this event with your work email. I have an AI product I want to present at the Showcase! Can I get in touch with the organisers? Send us an email at aishowcase2025@dta.gov.au and we will be happy to discuss potential presentation options. I represent the media. Can I attend the Showcase? Media are welcome to attend the Showcase. Places are limited - please reach out to the team at aishowcase2025@dta.gov.au so we can arrange a media pass. Why are you charging for the event? We are asking for a nominal fee to contribute to the cost of venue hire and catering. This amount is not intended to generate a profit. I can’t attend anymore—can I get a refund on my ticket? Unfortunately, we aren't able to offer refunds unless the event is cancelled. If you are unable to attend, we recommend passing your ticket to a colleague. To transfer your ticket, please contact us aishowcase2025@dta.gov.au with your registration details, and your colleague's name, email, workplace, and phone number. Will the Showcase be catered? Yes, lunch will be provided. We will also have coffee carts available on the day. Can I attend this event virtually? Unfortunately, this event is only available in-person. How can I get to the Showcase? The Showcase will be held at the Exhibition Hall in the National Convention Centre, Canberra (NCCC). The NCCC is located at 31 Constitution Avenue, Canberra. You can reach the NCCC by public transport or by car. Parking is available under the building for an hourly fee. There are other parking options in the vicinity of the venue. Is the venue accessible? The NCCC is fully accessible. Ramps are located at the Constitution Avenue and Glebe Park entrances to the venue, and a lift runs between the carpark and front lobby. For more on your accessibility options, contact the NCCC on +61 2 6276 5200, or email the Showcase organisers at aishowcase2025@dta.gov.au. Will there be recording on the day? Photography and video recording will take place throughout the event. These images and recordings may be used for promotional purposes, social media, and future event marketing. If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, please identify yourself to our photographer/videographer who will respect your privacy.
