OffThis report presents the findings from a pilot conducted by the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) from September to November 2024, which tested a draft artificial intelligence (AI) impact assessment tool, known at the time as the 'Pilot Australian Government AI assurance framework'. The draft AI impact assessment tool is designed to help Australian Government teams working on AI projects to identify, assess and manage the potential impacts and risks of an AI use case.
Twenty-one Australian Government agencies volunteered to test the draft AI impact assessment tool as part of the pilot, providing valuable feedback that will inform an updated, improved version of the tool. The DTA expects to publish this updated AI impact assessment tool in late 2025.
