Safety by design is a preventative approach where safety considerations are holistically considered in the design and operation of systems and prevent abuse before it occurs. To support this work, guidance has been developed for Australian Government agencies to support the implementation of safety by design. This outlines how agencies can identify system vulnerabilities, apply practical design improvements, and strengthen accountability to help prevent systems abuse. It provides a clear, phased approach that agencies can use when reviewing or updating their systems.
